Considering the future of the planet and the need to increase food production, the Tempisque Rice Research Project had three very important findings from the winter 2023-24 harvest:

1. Tempisque Rice can be produced organically with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
2. Tempisque Rice is significantly more tolerant than corn to weather extremes, such as excessive rain or hurricanes. It is also somewhat drought tolerant – up to 2 weeks without rain does not reduce harvests.
3. Most importantly, the women said Tempisque Rice tasted good, just like the rice they had been buying for special meals.
