Urban kids in La Buena Tierra Preschool and Primary School are living in small tightly-packed houses. They are now learning to grow vegetables in containers and discovering all the benefits of gardening, at an early age. How great to be having fun while gaining respect for nature, making it part of a healthy diet, and improving their mental and physical health.

La Buena Tierra Preschool and Primary School in Mexico was started in 1999 as a preschool for children of very poor families who were entering first grade with little preparation. The mothers dreamed of a quality elementary school. The children had become excited about learning, but they became frustrated and lost interest in the poor, under-funded and overcrowded public elementary schools.
