El grupo Vicente Guerrero, en colaboración con EPIC, lidera un proyecto innovador. Al recuperar las prácticas prehispánicas, el grupo está ayudando a su comunidad a enfrentar varios desafíos complejos, como la inseguridad alimentaria, los extremos climáticos, la pérdida de biodiversidad y la exclusión de mujeres y jóvenes. En la lucha por mitigar el cambio climático, los sistemas de ‘metepantle’ serán fundamentales.

The Vicente Guerrero group has been defending the rights of campesino and indigenous people since 1979. In their work, they protect and rescue Mexican farmers´ wisdom and identity, balance the relationship between human beings and the natural environment that holds them, and introduce a gender perspective to their community work. This year they are one of the nominees for the national human rights award from the Fundación Don Sergio Mendez Arceo (Premio Nacional de DH Don Sergio Méndez Arceo).
