La Semilla del Progreso, an agricultural training center providing intensive training for farmers from surrounding communities and afterwards continues to support them in the sometimes delicate transition from conventional practices to regenerative organic agriculture.
2020 – 2021 Annual Report
The 2020- 2021 EPIC Annual Report includes: Update on Tempisque Rice Project, Vegetable and Chicken Projects, Highlights of Pandemic Work including: Food and Mask Distribution, Health Education, Updates on efforts in: Erosion control and water management, Planting trees for reforestation, Updates on La Buena Tierra Preschool and Elementary School.
2.1.21 – A Story of the Unexpected: Upland Rice
While the US is in turmoil, all EPIC program partners are starting a new year of activities. These are modified to prevent the spread of Covid. In Mexico students pre-K through 6th grade at La Buena Tierra are studying virtually via cell phones. For children without phones, the director acquired donated used phones. EPIC provided some needed scholarships and school kits for kindergarten students who could not afford them.
2019 – 2020 Annual Report
The theme for the 2019- 2020 Annual Report is Food Security Before and During the Pandemic. COVID-19 has forced us to respond with immediate food distribution but creating long-term strategies for food security has always been our focus.

2020 Annual Report: Food Security
In addition to distributing food, EPIC’s program partners are promoting vegetable gardens. Soacha is a very poor community outside Bogotá, Colombia, where people fleeing violence have settled. Most residents depend on day labor and are food insecure.
2020 Annual Report: Nutritious Food For Families
La Semilla del Progreso in Honduras began an agro-salud program (agriculturally-based health education) for groups of women in 3 communities. Activities are emphasizing nutrition education and home gardens and there are 50 families participating. The cooking classes use the nutritious food the women are growing, with food preparation safety and family hygiene included.
2017 – 2018 Annual Report
The theme for the 2017- 2018 Annual Report is "Promoting Greater Understanding Through Supporting Local Initiatives". This past year that led to an even greater expansion of sustainable agriculture work; to greater involvement of new, young leadership; and to an increased focus on youth.

The theme for the 2016- 2017 Annual Report is "EPIC Works Where Need and Opportunity Intersect". EPIC partners with inspired local leaders who have creative ideas to solve local problems. Then, EPIC affirms and empowers these leaders.
